The Google TV Home Panel, initially launched on Google TV Streamer and Chromecast, is now accessible on Google TV models from brands like TCL and Hisense. This feature allows users to manage their smart home devices directly from the TV screen using the familiar Google Home interface.
The Home Panel provides controls for various smart home devices such as lights, fans, thermostats, and also supports live Nest camera feeds and notifications from Nest Doorbells. While not as comprehensive as the Google Home app, it offers a convenient way to oversee smart home functions without leaving the TV screen.
Previously available on Chromecast with Google TV, the Home Panel has now been expanded to TCL, Hisense TVs, and Xiaomi set-top boxes. The functionality remains largely the same across devices, with the exception that it cannot be mapped to a dedicated button on the Google TV Streamer.
To access the Home Panel, users can open the Quick Settings by long-pressing the home button. Ensure your Google TV Home app is updated via the Play Store if the feature is not available yet.
This expansion aims to enhance the TV experience, integrating smart home controls into the TV interface for seamless, convenient access to connected devices without disrupting entertainment.
