IAM Update: New Affiliations, Google Calendar Sync, and More

The IAM Program is progressing on various tasks that are enhancing both system communication and the quality of services for Miami students, faculty, and staff. Here’s a quick update on the latest developments:

Google Calendar Subscriptions Previously managed by legacy systems, Google Calendar subscriptions have now transitioned to RapidIdentity (RI). During the transition, some automatic subscriptions were temporarily inactive, but they’re now fully functional. Notably, all employee and student accounts are automatically subscribed to All Miami Holidays and Terms and Religious Observances and Inclusive Scheduling calendars. If you had unsubscribed, the sync may have re-subscribed you—simply uncheck them in Google Calendar if you prefer not to see these.

Listserv Now in RapidIdentity RI is also now handling Listserv management, marking a milestone as all original target systems are on track with the new IAM framework.

Three New Affiliations Next week, you’ll see three new affiliations at Miami, refining access based on user roles:

  • ALU (Alum): Replaces "Former Student" (frs) and applies to graduates. Alumni retain access to some systems, like Handshake and Google Drive, for up to a year post-graduation.
  • EES (Enrollment Eligible Student): Covers applicants and others who are eligible for enrollment but haven’t yet transitioned to accepted students.
  • INT (International Student): Assigned to active and graduated international students, allowing extended access to certain Miami systems.

These new affiliations add precision to access control, ensuring users reach only the systems they need.
