Are experts offering insights on whether sex can be considered a form of exercise?

If the notion of exercising appeals to you but the idea of leaving your bed doesn't, there's a sensual solution.

According to a survey conducted by Peloton, nearly three out of four Americans (72 percent) agree that sex can be considered a form of exercise, a sentiment endorsed by experts.

Jaimee Bell, a sex expert and producer at the erotic audio platform Bloom Stories, affirms, “High-quality sexual experiences contribute significantly to our well-being, regardless of relationship status. They facilitate a connection with our bodies and bring us into the present moment.”

“Moreover,” she adds, “sexual activity can alleviate stress, enhance the quality of sleep, and positively impact our overall mood. In relationships, it fosters emotional intimacy, improves communication, and strengthens trust.”

How intense is the physical activity during sex? Emily Morse, a renowned sex expert and host of the top-rated relationship podcast Sex with Emily, explained to The Post that it can vary greatly, ranging from a quick five-minute session to prolonged, energetic intercourse lasting hours. Morse emphasizes that sex is a unique experience for each individual every time.

The duration and intensity of your sexual encounters, as well as the positions you engage in, can turn your time in bed—or wherever you choose to be intimate—into a comprehensive full-body workout, requiring flexibility, strength, and stamina.

A study conducted by Lelo, a luxury sex toy company, found that "The Butter Churner," "Standing," and "The Kneeling Wheelbarrow" are the positions most likely to burn the most calories for both men and women, on average. If these positions are unfamiliar to you, consider adding them to your to-Google and to-do lists.

"If your aim is to increase your stamina in the bedroom, incorporating variety by experimenting with new positions is key," Bell recommended, suggesting those interested in learning new techniques to explore the classic Kama Sutra. You might find yourself among many others perusing its pages this spring.

About 66% of Americans expressed the significance of enhancing their sexual satisfaction or stamina this spring, as indicated by a survey conducted by Peloton.

In addition to acquiring new techniques, Bell also recommended that those exploring sexuality prioritize savoring every aspect of their intimate encounters, rather than solely aiming for orgasm while in bed.

"Often, the emphasis on reaching climax can overshadow the pleasure of sex. However, by shifting the focus away from the 'big O' and instead prioritizing anticipation, one can enhance the enjoyment and duration of sexual encounters," Bell explained.

Experts highlight the significance of preparation and mindfulness for a fulfilling sexual experience. They stress the importance of maintaining the erotic and playful aspects of sex, while also recognizing it as a vital component of overall wellness.

"Sexual well-being is integral to personal wellness, akin to the importance of quality sleep and nutrition," Morse emphasized.
