A lone goat, spotted wandering one of Dunwoody’s busiest streets on Friday, captivated social media until local police captured it safely that evening. The goat’s origins and ownership remain unknown.

On October 18, reports of the goat weaving through traffic in the Jett Ferry Road/Mount Vernon Road area started popping up across social media. Amused locals joked about its supposed mission to “change the culture” at Chick-fil-A or its search for “freelance opportunities.” Some even offered to adopt, while others made tongue-in-cheek grill references.

As sightings increased, many wondered about the goat's owner. While the city sometimes uses goats for clearing brush, Dunwoody officials confirmed this rogue goat was not on the city’s payroll.

After receiving multiple calls, police tracked down and “wrangled” the animal around 9 p.m., just across from the Chick-fil-A and near All Creatures Animal Hospital. Sgt. Michael Cheek reported that the capture went smoothly.

With no one stepping forward to claim the goat, DeKalb County Animal Control took it into custody, leaving the goat's identity and backstory a mystery.
